Goal of the Month Winner – September 2012

LFE is pleased to announce that Crawley Town’s Alex Laing is the winner of the September 2012 Goal of the Month award.

The 17-year-old striker beat ten fellow apprentice players to the prize, after a record number of entries were submitted for September’s competition.

Laing’s unstoppable 30-yard effort came in a 2-2 draw against Portsmouth at the beginning of last month.

His goal picked up over 6,300 of the 17,415 public votes cast to beat Sheffield Wednesday’s Ayomide Obileye – his nearest rival.

Laing now joins Crystal Palace winger Sulley KaiKai in the hunt for LFE’s Goal for the Season award with both automatically qualifying as winners of the monthly competition.
