Kick It Out Launches New Addition To Raise Your Game Series

Kick It Out is expanding its successful Raise Your Game series to enhance the opportunities for those engaged on its Mentoring and Leadership Programme.

In partnership with BBC Sport, Kick It Out will be putting a spotlight on the media by holding a specific ‘Raise Your Game’ Conference, called ‘Get Into Football Media’ at BBC’s Media City in Salford, Manchester on Monday 23 November 2015.

The event provides those who are seeking a career in media with a unique opportunity to gain an insight into the industry. Earlier this month, Kick It Out released a video made by BBC Sport which showed some of the success stories from the Raise Your Game series. To view the video, visit www.youtube.com/watch?v=4RaDMnljGEI.

If you wish to attend, please register your interest by visiting getintofootballmedia.eventbrite.co.uk. You will also need to provide a minute-long video recording of yourself explaining ‘Why I Love Football’ to [email protected] by 9 November 2015.

Shelley Alexander, BBC Sport’s Editorial Lead on Women’s Sport, said: “BBC Sport are delighted to welcome Kick It Out’s Raise Your Game ‘Get Into Football Media’ Conference to Media City, our home at Salford Quays.”

“Our partnership with Kick It Out has showcased some amazing success stories for young people wanting to work in football and I’m sure the Raise Your Game event in November will be equally successful.”

Shelley, who is Chair of Kick It Out’s Mentoring Delivery group, has supported the career pathways for many of Raise Your Game’s mentees by providing work placement and job shadowing opportunities, as well as delivering workshops and mentoring individuals with a keen media interest.

Troy Townsend, Kick It Out’s Education and Development Manager added: “The Media industry has always been the most popular category for our mentees at our Raise Your Game events. The 2015 conference, held at Arsenal’s Emirates Stadium saw 78 hours of media mentoring alone.”

“Because of this, it was natural to develop a media focused event, which will also provide mentees with an insight into one of the biggest corporate media organisations.”
