McGrath On Standby

Philip McGrath

Oldham Athletic Apprentice Philip McGrath has been selected as a Northern Ireland standby player for the forthcoming UEFA Under-19 Championship Qualifying Round Mini-Tournament in Bosnia & Herzegovina.

The Irish FA have confirmed that Northern Ireland will play Bulgaria on Wednesday 7th October, Iceland on Friday 9th October and hosts Bosnia & Herzegovina on Monday 12th October.

It’s great recognition for the young midfielder, who’s impressed on several occasions for Lee Duxbury’s Development Squad and has already been included in several match day squads, by first team boss Dave Penney.

“It’s everything he’s earned” said Youth Team Assistant Manager Mick Priest, “He’s done well in the Youth and Development Squad teams and it’s no more than we expected from him, he’s a very good footballer.”
