Dragons Push For Play-Off Position

Two former Apprentices are doing their bit to try and propel Wrexham’s push towards a play-off position in the Blue Square Premier.

Wes Baynes and Andy Fleming both produced outstanding displays in Saturday’s 3-1 success for the Dragons at Altrincham, while another ex Apprentice Andy Mangan (Blackpool) set them on their way, opening the scoring inside 4 minutes.

Mangan’s cute back heel then played Baynes in to add a second before the interval and with Fleming controlling the play in midfield the Welshmen never looked like relinquishing their lead.

Mark Jones added a third on 74 minutes before Matt Doughty grabbed a consolation from the penalty spot.

Wrexham will now hope to take points from fellow promotion chasers Mansfield Town when the teams meet at the Racecourse tonight.
