Reading Academy players have been left stranded in the USA as a result of last week’s Icelandic volcano eruption.
With the ash now starting to clear Reading have been caught as victims of the aviation chaos as the task of moving the huge backlog of travellers now begins.
The Club had hoped to return to the UK on Tuesday after their participation in the ‘United Cup’ in Charlotte, North Carolina, however they have been advised that they face wait until 4th May to board the next available flight home.
The football side of the tour proved a huge success with the Royals youngsters winning all four of their matches to clinch the United Cup however, the volcanic eruption has left them facing a travel nightmare.
The party of 21 players and staff includes Academy Manager Eamonn Dolan, Assistant Academy Manger David Dodds, Sports Scientist Ed Franklin, Physio Becky Brown and Club Ambassador Noel Hunt.
