North End Starlet Hoping For Another Medal

After winning the North West Youth Alliance League first year Apprentice Seanan Clucas is hoping to add another medal to his collection in the form of the Reserve Totesport.com West Division.

The Preston North End youngster came in for praise from David Unsworth after Monday’s Reserve win over Accrington in which he was used along the back four instead of in his normal midfield position, however, Clucas revealed that he was just happy to do a job for the team.

Speaking to the Club’s website, he said:

“[Centre back] is not really a position I have played, but any time they want to give me a job I will do it. I went into right back and did my best and then I went in to centre half and thought I did alright, so I can’t complain.”

“I’m known for getting in there and getting stuck in and if it has to be done I will get in there and do it and do the best I can.”

“It’s been a very good run. Ever since we got beaten to [To Stockport on March 15th] we have been on a very good run [winning 11 and drawing one of 12 games]. After that game Unsy had us in, the gaffer had a go at us and Jamie and Rammers all got a reaction out of us and hopefully now we can keep that run going to the end of the season.”

“Tiredness is probably going to be a big factor, but as Unsy has said, it is all mental for us and hopefully we can get through it and it will be good to get onto Deepdale on Tuesday and Wednesday. Hopefully we’ll take the job on from Monday, get another win on Tuesday and then again on Wednesday.”

With North End’s hopes of winning the League now resting on the fate of others and their own ability to put five past Blackpool on Wednesday, Clucas is still hoping to cap a good campaign off by adding further silverware to his collection. He added:

“It would be nice to win the league and hopefully someone can do us a favour and beat Wrexham and then it will be down to us on Wednesday.”

“It would be nice to follow up the Youth title with the Reserves, it would be a brilliant achievement. I’m just a first year scholar, so to win two titles would be amazing and we’ll see what happens.”
