Dugdale Hoping To Extend Stay At Crewe

Adam Dugdale is determined to make the most of his second chance after resigning for Crewe Alexandra in the summer.

Dugdale, whose current deal with Alex expires in January, is keen to extend his stay at Gresty Road, an environment he knows all about.

Now 23 years old Dugdale was an Apprentice at the Club and signed his first professional deal with them in 2006. Released in the summer of 2007, he has since played non-league football for a number of Clubs including AFC Telford United, Southport and Barrow.

“I’ve earned a six-month contract and Dario’s had faith in me,” said Dugdale.

“It’s moving onwards and upwards for me and hopefully I can keep going and try and get back in the team.”

This season he has made three substitute appearances in League Two and featured from the start in the 3-1 Johnstone’s Paint Trophy defeat at Carlisle on Tuesday.

“When you get your chance you’ve got to make sure you prepare right and take it,” he added.

“I’m over the moon to be back full-time, if someone had told me a year ago I’d be playing against Carlisle in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy quarter-final I’d have snapped their hand off.”

“Dario’s been brilliant, he’s always on me in training trying to improve me and if he thinks you’re good enough he will give you a chance.”

Meanwhile, fellow defender Matt Tootle, 20, has signed a 12 month contract extension to 2014.

Another graduate of Crewe’s famed Academy, Tootle’s extension is the second he has signed this year after penning a deal until 2013 in the summer.
