Former Leyton Orient Apprentice Musa Manneh recently received an invitation from the Gambia Football Association to join the national U20 squad.
Since his arrival in Gambia last week Musa has begun trials with the Darling Scorpions who are preparing to face big guns like Cameroon, Nigerian and Ghana in the group stage of the upcoming Caf African U20 Youth Tournament.
The young midfielder, who was released by Leyton Orient last summer after his two-year Apprenticeship, looked sharp following an impressive performance at the team’s training centre in Brikama under the guidance of coach Lamin Sarr.
Fully aware of the stern competition he will face in order to secure regular 1st team action with the Darling U20 team, he said: “My desire is to break my way into the Gambia national U20 team for the Caf Youth Championship even though it will be difficult considering the good players in the team.”
Birmingham-born Manneh, who can also play as a left-back, joined Leyton Orient as a schoolboy in 2002 following a brief spell with Aston Villa.
