Bradford City have signed former Sheffield Wednesday Apprentice Patrick Lacey.
The 18-year-old midfielder who was released by The Owls in the June on completion of his Apprenticeship has signed a one-year-deal at Valley Parade.
His signing is further evidence that Bantams boss Peter Jackson is keen to build a young and successful team.
“I’ve always said that we’ve needed a younger side,” Jackson told the club’s website.
“My coaching staff and I think Sheffield Wednesday have made a bit of a mistake letting him go.”
Jackson continued:
“He had offers to come to other clubs, but he was with us for a few days last season and seemed to enjoy it, and I think that swayed it in our favour.”
“He’s come back here for pre-season with the rest of the lads this summer and we still like what he is offering as a player.”
Lacey is Bradford’s second teenage signing this week after the club brought in Scottish midfielder Scott Brown from Clyde on Wednesday.
