Howieson And Conlan Pledge Futures To The Clarets

Following on from Burnley’s impressive cup run, Cameron Howieson and Luke Conlan have signed their first professional contracts at Turf Moor.

First year Apprentices Howieson and Conlan have both put to pen to paper on a two-year deal that will see them remain at the club until June 2014.

Under the guidance of youth coach Terry Pashley, New Zealand youth international Howieson has been an ever-present figure in both the youth and reserve team since moving to England last year.

Whilst left back Conlan has featured for the reserves, trained with the first team and represented Northern Ireland at U19 level.

“Cameron and Luke have both done very well this season and deserve the contracts they have been given,” Manager Eddie Howe told the club’s website.

“We believe both are very promising players who will develop further from working more regularly with the first-team squad.”

“It has been an excellent season at youth level and we believe there are few who are good enough to make the step up.”

The pair have also been busy off the pitch joining their fellow team-mates and apprentices from Preston North End in a belated Sports Relief mile at Preston College yesterday.

North West Regional Officer Craig Skinner also joined in with the charity fundraiser, which aims to transform disadvantaged lives;

“Coming off the back of the lads disappointment on Wednesday evening in the FA Youth Cup it was great to see the Burnley lads get involved alongside their peers from Preston.”

“Sometimes footballers aren’t credited for what they do in the community but this occasion has provided the opportunity to both squads to do their bit for a worthy cause.”
