Bournemouth Players Keen For Youth Cup Chance

AFC Bournemouth’s Head of Youth, Ross Embleton can’t wait to see his side in action tonight as they kick-off their FA Youth Cup campaign against AFC Totton at Dean Court (7.30pm).

While there may have been modifications to youth development structures due to the Elite Player Performance Plan (EPPP), according to Embleton the FA Youth Cup still remains the blue riband event of youth football.

“I think the FA Youth Cup is something they all look forward to at the start of the season, They all want to know when it`s going to be, they all want to know who they are going to play against and they all want to be in the team.”

“It`s their big chance to play and create the opportunity of playing against a big club and also to progress, to kick on and do well in a big competition.”

For many a chance to get a run in the competition will be the highlight of the season and that view is shared by former youth-team graduate Josh McQuoid, who added:

“When you are coming through the ranks, the FA Youth Cup is a massive thing, It feels like you are making your first steps towards a higher level and it`s a great honour.”
