After spending the past two seasons as an apprentice at Rotherham United, 18-year-old stopper Alfie Burnett has signed professional terms with Forest Green Rovers ahead of their debut League One campaign.
Originally from Scarborough, Burnett began his career with York City and Leeds United, before signing Apprenticeship forms with the Millers in 2020.
Despite not being offered a professional deal with Rotherham, the Gloucestershire-based Club have moved fast to snap up the promising youngster and add further depth to the goalkeeping ranks.
Speaking to the club website, Burnett expressed: “I’m delighted to be joining the club. I’m really looking forward to the new season and it’s been great training with the team during the end of the season.”
Dan Connor, Head of Goalkeeping, added: “Alfie is a great character and will really fit into our group of goalkeepers. We’re sure he’ll learn plenty from both Luke and Lewis this season.”
