Humphreys Marks Maiden Start With Goal

For Ipswich Town’s Cameron Humphreys, his first league start couldn’t have gone much better. Kieran McKenna handed the 18-year-old a spot in the starting XI for his sides trip to Port Vale last night, and Humphreys didn’t let him down.

The Tractor Boys recorded a crucial 3-2 win in Staffordshire, with Humphreys scoring their second of the evening, smashing a low driven shot into the bottom corner from the edge of the box.

After the full time whistle, Humphreys was embraced by his teammates, whilst the travelling Ipswich faithful sang ‘Cameron Humphreys, he’s one of our own’.

“It was a really good night, we got the three points and on a personal note, I’m very happy,” Humphreys told iFollow Ipswich.

“There’s bits where I can improve. Especially in the build up, I could’ve been cleaner and better. In those times, I could be braver and play even more but there was lots of bits I was happy with as well.

“I competed well and was good on second balls which is something I’ve tried to develop this year.

“It means the world to me, I’ve been at the Club for many years and the reaction of the players and the travelling fans; the scenes were really pleasing for me.”
