LFE’s Learner of the Term celebrates the efforts of students who have made excellent academic progress and a positive contribution at their club. The winner has earnt a £200 Amazon voucher.
Winner – Leo Furesi (Carlisle United Community Trust)
Leo wins the award due to his exemplary attitude and hard work both in and outside the classroom. Having put in a tremendous amount of work during his second year, Leo has achieved distinctions in every module, showing significant progress from his first-year. His punctuality is exceptional and always arrives early and ready to put in the work.
As part of his course, Leo has been volunteering at the Community Trust Soccer Camps during half terms. During those camps, Leo displayed excellent communication skills with participants and realised his passion for coaching and working in sport. This had led to Leo volunteering at primary schools where he coaches a PE lesson once a week. As a result, his confidence has improved massively. Leo has now been offered a place at Lancaster University.
His tutor, Nick Telford, said: “Leo has shown so much improvement this year that he has earned himself a paid role at Carlisle United’s Community Trust where he will be working his first soccer camp as a coach. We are delighted to see the progress that he has made and it’s all thoroughly deserved. Without his hard work and perseverance, this opportunity wouldn’t have arisen, so all credit to Leo, he’s had a fantastic year.”
Congratulations from everyone at LFE, Leo!
