MK Dons | Hopeful Vessels

On Saturday 24th June, a representative of MK Dons’ U18s attended the celebration of the fifth anniversary of Hopeful Vessels, a charity which was created when Milton Keynes resident Ella Oyortey and mothers found themselves feeling overwhelmed by the pressures of caring for children with disabilities or exceptional needs. The charity acts as provider of support to complete claim forms and identify further support means. It eventually developed into workshops, conferences and advice in dealing with early intervention strategies and diagnoses of autism and ADHD.

The work of Hopeful Vessels was expanded to Ghana following a visit Mrs Oyortey made in 2018 and it is now supporting 60 families in the African country.

MK Dons players engaged with the community and participated in fundraising games and chatted with people who also shared some of their experiences with the Deputy Mayor of Milton Keynes, Councillor Marie Bradburn.

MK Dons SET donated some old football kits that Ella Oyortey will take to Ghana during her next visit.

“I cannot thank MK Dons enough. All the children in Ghana love football and I cannot wait to see them proudly wearing the colours of MK Dons. Hopefully they will become life-long supporters” said Mrs Oyortey.

Well done to MK Dons Academy players in getting involved in the Milton Keynes community.
