United And England Chance For James

Manchester United starlet Reece James could be in line for his Premier League bow and as well as an England Under 21 call-up after impressing on the club’s pre-season tour of The United States.

According to The Daily Mail, James, now 20 is being monitored by England scouts and could be part of Gareth Southgate’s squad to face Lithuania and Moldova in September if he maintains his remarkable progress.

James, who is the younger brother of Leicester City midfielder Matty, is yet to represent his country at youth level.

In fact he was released by Preston as an 18-year-old just 2 years ago and spoke to LFE about going to America on a soccer scholarship in 2012 before United Reserve team manager Warren Joyce stepped in to offer him a deal at Old Trafford.

The young left-back has been a model of consistency since then though. Last term he as nominated by Joyce as his player of the seasonfor the club’s second string. More recently James has caught the eye of new United manager Louis van Gaal and fans alike on the Reds tour of the USA.

He scored twice against LA Galaxy, impressed in the victory over Roma and produced another composed display last night as United returned to Old Trafford with a 2-1 victory over Valencia.

With Luke Shaw missing from action against the Spanish team due to injury – James could be in line to make his competitive debut on the opening day of the Premier League season should the former Southampton full-back fail to recover in time.
