Coventry Seal Deal for Thomas-Asante

Coventry City have announced the signing of Brandon Thomas-Asante from Midlands rivals West Bromwich Albion.

The former MK Dons apprentice has put pen to paper on a four-year deal at Coventry Building Society Arena, signing for an undisclosed fee.

Thomas-Asante progressed through the ranks at MK Dons’ Academy, signing his first professional deal in 2016. Following an eye-catching 2016-17 campaign, he was named the club’s Academy Player of the Year.

Following a couple of loan spells in non-league, the forward left MK Dons and signed for National League side Ebbsfleet United.

He then made his return to the EFL the following year, joining League Two outfit Salford City. Three seasons, 107 appearances and 26 goals later, Thomas-Asante earned a move to Championship side West Bromwich Albion.

The 25-year-old scored 18 goals in the Championship across two seasons for the Baggies before becoming Mark Robins’ fifth summer signing for Coventry City.

He also won his first cap for Ghana in June against the Central African Republic in a World Cup qualifier.

After signing his Sky Blues contract, Thomas-Asante said: “I can’t wait to see the fans and show them what is to come. I’ve seen the stadium just now and I can’t wait to see it bouncing. I just want to make sure that this is a season to remember.”
