Major League Soccer club Charlotte FC have signed Wilfried Zaha on a year-long loan from Turkish side Galatasaray. The US club also have the option of extending the loan until June 2026.
The ex-Crystal Palace apprentice had been plying his trade in France with Lyon for the first half of the season but struggled to break into the team on a consistent basis.
The 32-year-old winger will fill a Designated Player spot at Charlotte – a rule which allows an MLS franchise to sign up to three players that would be considered outside of the club’s salary structure.
Zoran Krneta, general manager of the North Carolina-based outfit, described Zaha as a “world class talent” and an “elite goalscorer”.
