Students have received recognition for their excellent academic progress and positive contribution at their club by making the shortlist for LFE’s Learner of the Term for January to March.

Malith Fernando – Bristol Rovers Club Community Organisation
Bristol Rovers’ Malith Fernando has enjoyed a successful year on programme and is a deserved runner-up for this term’s award.
His BTEC Tutor, Jack Munday, details why Malith was nominated. “He’s shown incredible enthusiasm and a fantastic work ethic in achieving considerably above his initial target grade predicted for him at the beginning of the year.
“Malith continuously shows up to complete work experience hours on various projects ran by the Club Community Organisation, particularly the BTEC trial days held in half term. Malith embodies the values of the organisation and sets a high standard for both current and potential new students while doing so with a smile on his face. He is the first to volunteer to present his work in front of his peers to showcase his development academically in an attempt to support his peers and add a charisma to the classroom environment. A classroom with Malith in it guarantees humour and energy as well as a strong work ethic and attitude to development.
“He does the basics immaculately, always on time and with a positive attitude to learning and polite demeanour to staff. Even after suffering with injury at points of this term where he was unable to participate in the football programme, he kept on top of his work and attended lessons with an abundance of motivation.
“Malith continuously strives to exceed in everything he does from simple tasks around the club such as supporting with equipment after practical sessions, to consistently questioning to increase his knowledge and grade achievement. With the continuation of his current attitude and willingness to get involved with tasks both within the classroom environment and out in the community we can’t wait to see his potential in the following years with us at Bristol Rovers.”
