Off the back of our disappointing FA Youth Cup exit, we have re-discovered our winning form. We have played two games and won them both, one against Huddersfield and the other against Derby.
We are currently on an unbeaten run in the league and its important that we stick to that mentality to give ourselves the best chance of challenging for the title.
We’ve got some tough fixtures coming up, with the likes of Liverpool and Wolves but the one I’m looking forward to the most is our encounter against Manchester United. We owe them one and it’ll be a great game and I don’t think it can come round quick enough.
The season appears to be flying by, the festive period feels like yesterday not to mention pre-season! The moment that every player across the country is anticipating is only around the corner now, the hope that a contract will be on the table waiting to be signed.
I’ve learned that I have to make the most of this experience so that later on in life I’ll have no regrets because I’ll know I gave it my all.
Reserves: Newcastle United v Arsenal
I was delighted at being selected to play for the Reserves yesterday against Arsenal at St. James’ Park. It’s always great playing at St. James’ and to play against a club like Arsenal is just unbelievable and something any young player dreams of.
They’re a great club and have been for years but on the night that didn’t matter.
We put them under pressure from the start and they found it very hard to play. We created a few chances earlier on and we eventually got that much wanted breakthrough from Greg McDermott with a fine finish from ten yards.
We were relieved to go in at the break 1-0 up and we tried make sure we stayed in the right frame of mind to go out in the second half and maintain our lead.
We were playing some great football but unfortunately we let them get back into the game after the break. Just when it looked as if we’d share the point, Phil Airey scored a diving header in the last minute.
It was a brilliant performance by the lads and it felt really good beating them in front of a good crowd.
