Ex Apprentice Luke O’Brien is expected to commit to a new deal with Bradford City and has already set his sights on obtaining the number three shirt for the new season as proof that he is the first choice left-back at Valley Parade.
City’s Player of the Year emerged as the biggest success story of last season playing 38 games in his first proper year.
Now O’Brien knows the pressure will be on to deliver more of the same but is eager for the challenge.
Speaking to the Bradford Telegraph and Argus O’Brien said:
“I would love to have another season just like I’ve had. I had a look back on last year and it was incredible, but it’s like another chapter now.”
“I’ve had four or five weeks rest up and to think about everything and now it’s all starting again with pre-season on July 1st.”
“bq. It would be great if I was given the number 3 shirt. That would mean a lot to me.”
O’Brien and fellow ASE graduates Joe Colbeck and Leon Osborne have all been offered a pay rise.
The left-back added,
“Money is completely different in our league. Some clubs might have a bit more to splash around on bigger players but most are in the same situation.”
