Ex Preston North End defender Mike Aspin is the latest Apprentice to find success after his time on the ASE programme.
The former Lilywhites fullback was released by the Championship side in June this year after completing his 2 year Apprenticeship.
Keen to continue in the game, Aspin had already attended LFE’s Progression ‘The Assessment Trials North’ Event at Bradford City FC last May when he was offered the opportunity to trial with Blue Square Premier outfit Northwich Victoria.
After forcing his way into the Vics first 11 early in the season Aspin has gone on to become a regular, producing a string of assured displays which has earned him a full time deal at The Marston’s Arena.
And despite Northwich’s early season problems that has seen them battling at the foot of the table following the exit of former boss Dino Maamria, Aspin is confident that things will soon take a turn for the better:
“My time as an Apprentice has in many ways prepared me for the challenges I’ll face if I want to build a future as a professional. I worked hard in the summer to keep myself going after I’d been released by North End and in many ways our predicament at the moment requires the same sort of action.”
“We’re in a relegation battle at the bottom of the table but things can change very quickly in football, you just have to keep working hard and in the end you’ll make a break for yourself and get your just rewards.”
