Chris Gunter’s first half injury-time strike was enough to see Nottingham Forest record their first away win of the season.
Formerly an Apprentice at Cardiff City, Gunter is back in the Championship with Forest after seeing his first team opportunities limited under Harry Redknapp at Tottenham.
The youngster is clearly benefitting from regular football and it was evident as he jinked his way through the Plymouth Argyle defence before shooting past Romain Larrieu for his first senior goal.
Speaking after the game, Gunter said:
“I’ve been pleased with how I’ve got forward in the last few games and to get a goal is brilliant.”
“The way we’ve been playing and if we carry on keeping clean sheets, you’d probably say we’re a lot closer to the top end of the table.”
For Argyle it was a disappointing day as they missed a number of chances that could have seen them take something from the game.
They have now lost seven straight league games and are bottom of the Championship.
