Ex Tranmere Rovers Apprentice Luke Holden has earned himself a second chance to make the grade in full-time football with League Two leaders Charlton Athletic.
The 20 year old Liverpudlian is with the Addicks on a three-month loan and hopes to earn himself a permanent contract.
Midfielder Holden was released by Rovers in 2007 following the completion of his Apprenticeship. He subsequently moved into semi-pro football and enjoyed spells with TNS, Cammell Laird and Bradford Park Avenue before joining Rhyl in January of last season.
He helped the Lilywhites win the Welsh Premier League in 2009 and a summer switch to Coventry City seemed on the cards when the Sky Blues made a formal offer for the player.
However, with Coventry and Rhyl unable to agree a fee, the Addicks stepped in to offer the youngster a trial. And after impressing boss Phil Parkinson, the fleet-footed left winger was signed on a three-month loan with a view to a permanent deal.
