Tranmere Rovers defender Ashton Taylor has signed a one-year extension to his contract which will keep him at the Club until June 2011.
The 19 year old has been with Rovers for nine years, progressing through the Centre of Excellence and Youth team before signing his first professional contract earlier this year.
He made his debut in the nail-biting final game of last season when Rovers narrowly lost out to Scunthorpe United for a place in last season’s Play-Offs and made his first start for the Club in Saturday’s League One season opener at Yeovil Town.
He has also been capped by Wales at Under-19 level. Speaking to the Club’s official Website, Tranmere Manager John Barnes said:
“Ash is a promising young defender. He played well throughout pre-season and deserved to make his full debut on Saturday at Yeovil.”
“He has a good example of the hard work being done by the Club with its Centre of Excellence and Youth system and I’m pleased he has extended his contract.”
Ash added:
“I’m happy to have signed a new contract at Tranmere. I’ve really enjoyed being part of the first team squad this summer and hope I can be involved regularly this season.”
