For those with Coventry City connections Wednesday night’s Carling Cup home defeat at the hands of Hartlepool United will soon be forgotten however for 2nd Year Apprentice, Shaun Jeffers, the night will be remembered as the one on which made his full debut for the Sky Blues.
The 17 year old, 2nd year Apprentice, was handed his full debut by Boss Chris Coleman after appearing as a substitute in Sunday’s opening day league win over Ipswich Town.
Clearly excited at his rise in to the first team ranks at the Ricoh Arena the youngster is now eager to repay the Club’s faith in him:
“I’ve waited for this moment for such a long time and obviously it says just as much for the club’s academy as it does for me,” he said speaking to Sky Blues Player.
“It was disappointing not to get the result but it was great to get the experience, especially with a few more lads from the academy in the side as well.”
“We’ve not gone through but I thought we definitely gave Hartlepool a good game and they will know tomorrow that they played 120 minutes.”
“I just hope I can get more first team appearances over the season and maybe bag a few goals.”
