Byron Czechs Out

Byron Webster

Former scholar Byron Webster has signed for Doncaster Rovers on an initial two-year deal for an undisclosed fee from Czech side FK Siad Most.

The 22 year old defender has impressed the Rovers Management during a trial that has seen him turn out in the red and white hoops against Grimsby and Wolves.

Leeds-born Webster started his career at York City as a Youth team player and made his debut for the Minstermen in 2004 against Burton Albion. The 6’5” centre-back signed his frst professional deal in 2006 before switching to nearby Harrogate Town in early 2007.

In August 2007 Webster moved to the Czech Republic’s Gambrinus liga – the Czech first division – to play for FK Siad Most but had to endure relegation with Most to the Czech second division at the end of the 2007-08 season.

Prior to joining Doncaster Rovers on trial Webster was also offered a trial with Scottish side Motherwell but the two parties failed to reach an agreement. Byron will now remain at the Keepmoat Stadium until 2011 and will wear the number 23 shirt.
