Our tour of Holland was a great experience for all the people who were involved, players and staff. As part of our trip we were able to play games against Dutch opposition. We were able to beat all our opponents which were Ajax, FC Twente and Willem II.
On the trip we were looked after really well and the standard of accommodation was very good, especially in the first week. I think that everybody came away with a different view of Holland as to when we first got there and would say it is a pleasant country with very polite people and great footballing facilities.
The highlight for many of us I think was the trip to the Amsterdam Arena and the city of Amsterdam. The Arena was a beautiful stadium and good to see the history of Ajax . Amsterdam was very different to British cities, especially a certain part of Amsterdam.
Overall the tour could not have gone any better. Great country and a fantastic experience. Thanks to the Middlesbrough club staff, Paul Urwin and Ian Smithson from LFE,our host club at Gilze and to the LFE for excellent organisation. I would also like to thank our Training Trips rep BJ who was top class!
