Hello readers,
On Saturday we played Holmsund at home, a team who before the game were third from bottom in the league. However, since the break I think they have brought in some new players and have started to pick up points against some of the better teams in the league. Holmsund are the only other team in our league with English players, and they had a couple of players coming back from injuries so we knew it would be a tough game.
Fortunately, we started the game in the right fashion and found ourselves 2-0 up quite early on in the game. This gave us the confidence to keep playing and express ourselves in the final third of the pitch. We were rewarded for our efforts and we went in at half time 5-1 up. Knowing that we were five goals behind Ostersund on goal difference we saw this game as a chance to close the gap.
We continued in the second half what we’d started in the first half and scored another five goals, to everyone’s surprise. Brad was superb scoring five and setting up one, and thoroughly deserved to be awarded man of the match. Although we won 10-1 Lloyd had to make a few greats saves late in the second half because we got complacent. Watching from the side line, it was clear that we dominated side from the beginning and we deserved all three points.
Because we play on Sunday this week against Kramfors, I’ve decided to go and watch Kraig our old team mate’s game on Saturday. He plays for IFK Sundsvall and they are playing Hillie, the team that finished one point ahead of us in the league last season. Hillie finished second and subsequently went in to the plays off but didn’t get promoted, so it will be interesting to see what there like this season. Kraig told me that they have already won the league with three games to go which is an incredible achievement on its own. Hopefully we’ll get good weather and Kraig’s team can pull of an upset because they are in desperate need of points.
