Yesterday was the first day on which we spent the whole of our time together as a group.
Once breakfast had been polished off it was straight into a team meeting with Travis (Binnion) to run through team selection and tactics for our game with NAC Breda.
From there it was out on to the bikes and team Blades got underway pedalling to training. I have to say the whole biking to training thing has been a massive hit with the lads so far!
Training was short and sharp. We worked on set pieces, a possession drill which added another dimension to the morning and were allowed a bit of time to work individually on aspects of our own game.
Straight after training we rode back to the hotel though our efforts pedalling back were conservative at best as we wanted to retain as much energy as possible for the game.
Between lunch and leaving for the game it was all about relaxation and quite a few of us managed to grab a little bit of sleep. The pre-match pasta meal laid on by the hotel was also a boost to the energy levels in the camp!
On arrival at Breda’s ground – the lads were eager to get the game the underway – training is great but all players enjoy nothing more than matches.
The pitch was good and the academy, although small in size, was well kept and nicely set-up. I was introduced as a 70th minute substitute and although I only saw 20 minutes of action it was nice to be involved and get up and running with a 3-0 win.
Our goals scored by Dom Lewin & Jorome Slew are well worth a watch so I’ve included them here!
With Feyenoord up next I hope I’m involved again and get a bit more pitch time but for now I’ll sign-off for now after a satisfying start to our tour.
