The Football League has announced the shortlists for the 2009 Apprentice of the Year Awards.
The Championship Manager Apprentice of the Year category celebrates the achievements of Apprentices and provides an opportunity to showcase young talent. Players nominated for the award were judged on criteria such as their playing record in all competitions, their educational attainment, disciplinary record and any other outstanding achievements.
The nominees were judged by an expert panel consisting of representatives from The Football League, Championship Manager, The PFA, LFE and John Motson and Steve Claridge from BBC Radio Five Live.
The winner from each division will be announced at the Football League Awards ceremony taking place at the Grosvenor House, Park Lane on Sunday 29th March 2009.

Championship
- Sean Scannell (Crystal Palace)
- Oscar Gobern (Southampton)
- Ross Jenkins (Watford)
League One
- Tom Aldred (Carlisle United)
- Daniel Powell (MK Dons)
- Stuart O’Keefe (Southend United)
League Two
- Robin Nicholls (Brentford)
- George Bowyer (Rochdale)
- Matthew Phillips (Wycombe Wanderers)
The 2008 Football League Awards produced three very deserving winners who have all continued to make excellent progress.
