Accrington Futsal Learner Wins Volunteer of the Year

Accrington Stanley Futsal learner Kerry Reeves has been awarded Volunteer of the Year by Hyndburn Leisure Centre.

Kerry, who completed the Futsal study programme with Stanley’s Community Trust earlier this year, volunteers for over 10 hours each week at the Leisure Centre working with young girls in football and other sports.

Her hard work and dedication was recognised at the 15th annual Hyndburn Community Sports Awards on 12 October. The awards are run by Hyndburn Leisure to recognise the amazing achievements that have been made by clubs, individuals and schools across the borough over the past 12 months.

Kerry has been a superb role model for young girls who want to start getting involved with sport. She creates a comfortable environment where the girls can be as involved as they like with no pressure put on them.

This attitude has paid off as numbers of participants on the sessions have grown rapidly this year. Kerry has also been influential in promoting girls football across Hyndburn through her work with Accrington Stanley Community Trust.
