Alex Starlet To Make Step Up

Highly-rated teenager Max Clayton has agreed to join Crewe Alexandra as an Apprentice much to the delight of Club Chairman John Bowler.

The 16 year old schoolboy will join the Club full-time in the summer and join his older brother Harry who is also on Alex’s Apprenticeship programme.

Clayton originally hit the headlines last year when he was a target of Liverpool. The Premier League Club’s advances angered Dario Gradi and the Crewe Boss has now persuaded Clayton to sign on at Gresty Road.

Bowler told the Club’s official website:

“We’re obviously delighted that a group of promising young players here, including Max, have agreed to commit their futures with us. It goes without saying that we hope their continued development will one day see them play in the Crewe Alexandra first team.”
