A sun basked Griffin Park heralded the first of LFE’s Progression 09 ‘The Assessment Trials’ events on tuesday evening.
Attended by over 90 Apprentices and first year professionals released by Premier League and Football League Clubs the trials attracted scouts from Arsenal, Brentford, Charlton Athletic, Falkirk, Fulham, Glasgow Rangers and QPR eager to catch the one that had slipped through the net.
They were not to be disappointed and with players attending from clubs such as Bristol City, Burnley, Cardiff City, Charlton Athletic, Fulham, Millwall, Norwich City, QPR, and Southampton there was no shortage of talent on show.
As the opening game kicked off at a frenetic pace, it became apparent that there was indeed no shortage of quality on show, a point further emphasised by a classy finish from Scott Ginty (Peterborough Utd) on the 20 minute mark.
With Lewis Ochoa (Brentford) and Wayne Jackson (Fulham) impressing in midfield on opposing sides the score remained at 1-0 until Jon Marzetti (Northampton Town) bulleted a header past Jonathan North (Watford) to close out proceedings for a strong Blue team.
As game two got underway Steven Lozano (Charlton Athletic) made an instant impression with some fine touches on the left wing to impress the on-looking crowd. Now well into the events, it looks like a promising week ahead…….
