Championship high-flyers Sheffield United have brought back Ben Brereton Diaz on loan for the remainder of the season from Southampton.
The Chile international spent the second half of last season on loan at Brammal Lane from Villarreal and scored six goals in 14 outings for the then Premier League side.
The 25-year-old joined Southampton for £7m in the summer of 2024 but has struggled to establish himself in the Saints side.
Discussing the the acquisition of Brereton Diaz, Sheffield United Manager Chris Wilder told BBC Radio Sheffield: “He’s a player I’ve admired for a long time.
“I always had it in the back of my mind when he left us at the end of the season that one day we’d reunite. He impressed so many people in a difficult season.
“It’s a good signing for us and I’m delighted that he wanted to come back here. It’s a great fit for us.”
