Cumbrians Released To Reds

Carlisle United youngsters Jonny Blake and Conor Tinnion have joined Blue Square North Club Workington after being released by the Cumbrians.

The pair, both 1st year professionals at the Coca Cola League One Club, have been released by boss Greg Abbott to give them the opportunity to play for the Reds on non-contract terms until the end of the season.

Blake, a central midfielder, and Tinnion, a left-winger, both came through the Carlisle Youth system and have been unused substitutes at various stages in the current campaign, without making the step up to a first team appearance.

Abbott said:

“These are two good, hard-working lads and this is a very difficult decision to have to make. But, by releasing them now it means that they have the chance to get to Workington, play some competitive football at an excellent set-up, and put themselves in the shop window.”

“They really have been a pleasure to work with, but we have to make these decisions, however tough that might be. It goes without saying that we wish these lads every success in the future.”
