Blackburn Rovers winger and former LFE learner Tyrhys Dolan scored a delightful opener for his side last night as the Championship outfit caused a cup upset, knocking Leicester City of the Premier League out of the FA Cup with a 2-1 win at the King Power Stadium.
Dolan, who completed his apprenticeship at Preston North End before moving to Ewood Park, opened the scoring in the 33rd minute after latching onto a loose pass from the Foxes’ Daniel Amartey and then curling the ball past a helpless Daniel Iversen in the Leicester City net from the edge of the box.
Sammie Szmodics added another for the Riversiders just after the half-time break, before Kelechi Iheanacho grabbed a consolation for the hosts with 20 minutes remaining.
Dolan posted on Twitter after the game: “This team! Great perfomance from the boys against a top side, shows what we are about. Special mention to all the supporters, what a night!”
Blackburn Rovers are now into the hat for the quarter-final draw.
