Learners from five Community Trusts attended Edge Hill University in Ormskirk for an in-depth insight into university life and what the university itself has to offer.
Community Trusts from Accrington Stanley, Blackpool, Fleetwood Town, Rochdale and Wigan Athletic made the trip to the West Lancashire campus last week.
The attendees were introduced to the wide range of sport courses on offer and were given a detailed rundown of what grades they’d need to achieve in order to gain entry onto each particular course.
They were also given an extensive tour of the campus in which they visited all the sporting facilities including the sports hall, fitness suites and sport & exercise science labs.
They rounded off the day with a seminar focused on the growing importance of mental health in sport.
Laura Wentmoor, a CTSP Regional Officer for LFE, said: “It was great to see five of our CT’s attend the recent Edge Hill University taster day. Learners were able to visit the beautiful campus and gain an insight into what courses they offer and what it would be like as a student there. Edge Hill have massively invested in their campus, and it could be an ideal university for some of our learners to progress onto. Thank you to Edge Hill for putting on the day and thank you to the learners of Accrington, Blackpool, Fleetwood, Rochdale and Wigan for attending.”
