Esse Bags First Lions Goal

Academy graduate Romain Esse scored his first goal in professional football on Saturday as Millwall beat Middlesbrough by a single goal on the opening day of the Championship season.

The 18-year-old, who came on as a second half substitute at the Riverside, broke the deadlock with 11 minutes remaining with a delightfully curled effort into the top corner.

“Wow what a moment! First professional goal + 3 points! Fans were unreal as usual! See you on Tuesday at the Den!” Esse posted on Twitter after the game.
