So our tour to Spain is at an end and we’re back in Blighty – so perhaps now is the best opportunity to reflect on a great trip to Valencia and a really positive 12 days.
I can’t speak highly enough of the tour on so many fronts. Everything from the travel, our meals, the way we’ve been looked after and the opposition we came up against was of a very good standard.
Our travel arrangements and coach were always bang on time and provided comfortable way to get about from the hotel and to anywhere else we have needed to go.
Our training was at very high intensity and has been very hard work ( and that’s before you factor in the heat that ramps up the difficulty even more) but it has all been very beneficial and the team are now starting to see fitness gains from the hard graft we have put in.
All three matches we played were tough games and while results were mixed with a win, a draw and a defeat our performances and team ethic have generally been good. After opening up with a 2-1 defeat to Huracan we drew 0-0 with Levante and rounded off the tour perfectly with a 1-0 win over Villareal.
I feel as if the tour has been very good for team bonding and has really helped to create a real camaraderie and team spirit in our camp which should serve us well over the forthcoming season.
I think this has been helped by doing things together as a group away from the training pitch like playing golf and going canoeing which were good experiences to be a part of.
I have really enjoyed those aspects of the tour and in particular our trip to Valencia’s historic Mestalla stadium which has graced so many world stars.
All in all this tour has been a superb trip to be on and hopefully it has put us in good stead for the season ahead and hopefully a successful season for us all at Nottingham Forest.
