Academy squads of Bolton Wanderers, Bury, Millwall, Milton Keynes Dons, Morecambe and Norwich City will kick-start their seasons this weekend after completing a two-week trip to Spain, organised by LFE and funded by Erasmus+.
The six clubs tested themselves against high-calibre opponents like Real Madrid, Atlético Madrid, Sevilla and Real Betis having gained an insight into the Spanish methodology by taking part in training sessions led by coaches from various Spanish clubs.
Each side registered at least one victory from their set of three fixtures, with Bury and Morecambe both remaining unbeaten throughout the trip, recording two wins and a draw.
The teams also participated in off the pitch activities to further immerse themselves in the local culture, such as Spanish language lessons, a visit to Real Madrid’s Santiago Bernabéu stadium and tours around their host cities, while Norwich sent a group of their apprentices to teach some English football-related phrases and deliver a coaching session to Puebla CF Under-12 players.
