Charlton Athletic defender Joe Gomez has agreed a new long-term contract with the Championship club.
The 17-year-old has put pen to paper on a three-year deal which will keep him at The Valley until summer 2017, with the option for a further 12 months.
Second year apprentice Gomez, made his first-team debut in August during the League Cup win over Colchester.
Handed the number 3 shirt at the start to the season, Gomez who helped England to glory in the Under-17s European Championship’s during the summer has now made five first-team appearances for the Addicks.
“I’m happy that it’s done and that I can push on now,” Gomez told the club website.
“The intention was to get it done as quickly as possible.
“It’s nice that the young players here are being given a chance to play, that’s obviously exciting for us and it was a big incentive to sign.”
