A Kit Gregory hat-trick helped Blackpool defeat Lancashire rivals Burnley 3-1 in the Youth Alliance North West on Saturday.
Gregory put the Seasiders ahead in the 35th minute and then doubled his and Blackpool’s tally two minutes later to put Ciaran Donnelly’s side in a comfortable position.
Khius Metz pulled a goal back for the visitors in the 75th minute though before Gregory fired in his third goal five minutes before full-time to seal victory.
“It was our best performance of the season,” Academy Manager Ciaran Donnelly said. “We were excellent from start to finish and it was great for Kit to score a hat-trick and take the match ball home signed by the players.”
“We’re now in a good position in the league and have a big test away at Walsall this weekend. If the lads continue to show the same work ethic and determination then we’re capable of having a good season.”
