Ipswich Offer For Carson

Ipswich Town have offered a new three-year deal to winger Josh Carson.

The 18-year-old came through the Club’s Apprenticeship programme last term breaking in to the Town first-team in March.

He has since made 23 appearances for the club and been capped by Northern Ireland but his current deal expires at the end of this season.

“We have offered Josh a two-year contract, with another year on top,” boss Paul Jewell told the Club website.

“We’re waiting to hear back from Josh and his agent but we’re hopeful that a deal can be agreed pretty soon.”

Jewell revealed after Saturday’s 2-2 draw with Blackpool that he has made offers for three players.

And the former Wigan boss has confirmed all of the targets are under 24 years old, as he continues to move away from the recruitment policy in the summer that saw a number of experienced players arrive at Portman Road.

“I’m on record already in saying that I got the balance wrong in terms of the number of older players we brought in,” he added.

“We need experience in the side and in the squad but looking forward and for the long-term future of the club, we will be focusing on younger players.”

“The three players we have made bids for fall into that category, in fact one is a teenager.”
