Roy Keane praised his players’ attitude after Ipswich Town’s 3-1 win at Brentford in a pre-season friendly last week.
A first half goal from 16 year old ASE Apprentice Connor Wickham (pictured) took Town into the lead just before the break.
ASE graduate Jordan Rhodes grabbed a third on the final whistle to settle the Tractor Boys first victory of the pre-season campaign at Griffin Park.
Blues boss Keane told the Club’s official website:
“I really enjoyed it and it was a very good workout for us. These games are priceless in terms of pre-season and getting time on the pitch for the players.”
“We could have had more goals but to be fair to Brentford they had chances as well. When you look at the age of our scorers, with Connor only 16 and Jordan a teenager as well, that’s encouraging for the future.”
“These games are all about trying different players, different partnerships and like I said, I really enjoyed it.”
Wickham again came close for the Blues in this weekend’s friendly against League of Ireland side Cork but Keane’s home-town Club came out on top with a 2-0 victory, leaving Ipswich with two wins and two defeats in the four pre-season games so far.
