Wigan Athletic Club Community Organisation students have been undertaking work experience by supporting a girls football tournament. Students have been officiating, organising fixtures and leading teams, not only as part of last week’s National Careers Week, but as part of their BTEC qualification where they can use this work experience as part of their assessment.
Head of Education Phil Corrigan said: “It is great to see the learners in action with these school tournaments. We have been spending a lot of time looking at their professional practices in refereeing and coaching over the last few months, so seeing this in action with the local primary school children is great to see!”
