LFE Apprentice of the Season 2025 – Shortlist Announced

Ahead of the 2025 EFL Awards, the shortlist for the LFE Apprentice of the Season awards have been revealed.

Nine apprentices are among those honoured at this year’s star-studded EFL Awards ceremony, which will take place on Sunday, 27 April, in London.  

This award recognises the outstanding young professionals at EFL Clubs who have excelled both on and off the pitch during the 2024/25 season.

Sponsored by LFE, one apprentice will be chosen from each division.

EFL Championship Apprentice of the Season

  • Ronan Kpakio – Cardiff City
  • Chris Rigg – Sunderland AFC
  • Souleymane Sidibe – Stoke City

EFL League One Apprentice of the Season

  • Jake Richards – Exeter City
  • Kofi Shaw – Bristol Rovers
  • Luca Whitney – Shrewsbury Town

EFL League Two Apprentice of the Season

  • Botan Ameen – Swindon Town
  • Sebastian Auton – Grimsby Town
  • Jack Shorrock – Port Vale

Elsewhere, four former apprentices are in the running for various other awards.

  • Jobe Bellingham – Sunderland AFC (former Sunderland AFC apprentice)

EFL League One Young Player of the Season

  • Louie Barry – Stockport County (first half of the season) – now at Hull City (former Aston Villa apprentice)

EFL League Two Young Player of the Season

  • Nathan Lowe – Walsall (first half of the season) – now at Stoke City (former Stoke City apprentice)
  • Bobby Pointon – Bradford City (former Bradford City apprentice)
