League Football Education has won First Prize for the ‘Your Story’ competition in the Leonardo Film category.
LFE duo Sarah Stonehouse & Simon Williams picked up the award yesterday at a British Council and Ecorys Prize Award Ceremony in London.
The accolade was handed out to LFE for their production of a video documenting the pre-season tour exploits of four Football League Clubs. The tour, which took place over two weeks in August involved Apprentices from Scunthorpe United, Walsall, Watford and Wycombe Wanderers.
Yesterday’s ceremony marked a culmination of the joint Lifelong Learning Programme and Youth in Action competitions that the British Council and Ecorys ran for participants of all programmes.
“Receiving First Prize is good recognition for the work we do at LFE, especially within our Leonardo projects,” said Simon Williams, Alumni Liaison Officer.
“Our video entry gave a really good flavour of how we use the funding to provide our clubs and Apprentices with experiences in Europe that they couldn’t have had otherwise.”
“The pre-season tour opens up opportunities for the clubs to make contacts and opens up the Apprentices eyes to foreign culture and encourages the players to consider career options outside of the UK, be it football or not.”
“News of the win has received fantastic feedback from within LFE and the people we work with to make the Lifelong Learning Programme a success.”
