LFE Supports Sporting Chance Summit

In a significant move towards promoting mental health awareness within the sports community, LFE is proud to support the Sporting Chance Summit 2024 at Edgbaston on World Mental Health Day. In its second year, this pivotal event aims to unite staff from football clubs and other sports to foster a deeper understanding of mental health through expert-led discussions, research insights, and best practices.

The Sporting Chance Summit, established as a platform for collaboration and education, will feature a series of panels and workshops led by mental health experts. Attendees will have the opportunity to engage with leading figures in the field who will share valuable insights on mental health challenges faced by athletes and sports professionals.

LFE recognises the critical importance of mental health in sport, especially in an era where athletes are increasingly vocal about the pressures and challenges they face. By participating in the summit, LFE aims to enhance the support systems for players and staff alike, ensuring that mental well-being is prioritised alongside physical fitness.

The event will not only focus on informative sessions but also provide a networking platform. Club staff will have the chance to connect, share experiences, and promote mental health awareness together.

“We believe in the work of Sporting Chance and knowing that clubs have registered to attend signifies that there is engagement and understanding from clubs that mental health is a priority,” said LFE’s Life Skills Manager Simon Williams.

“This is one of many steps now in place to address mental health within football to create a more supportive environment for everyone involved. By coming together, we can learn from each other and implement effective strategies that benefit our players and staff.

“The aim is to build an even stronger culture where mental health is openly discussed and prioritised, ultimately leading to healthier, happier, and more resilient athletes.”
