Preston North End’s Youth squad made it four wins in four games in impressive style midweek as they claimed an 8-0 victory over local rivals Morecambe.
Jamie Hoyland’s youngsters have scored 21 goals in the North West Conference and conceded just one so far which leaves them sitting three points clear at the top of the table.
Strikes from Connor McLaughlin, Scott Davidson, Jamie Douglas and Jamie Proctor, along with goals from Ryan McGreevy and Michael McLellan (pictured) who both hit a brace, made it eight goals for the Lilywhites U18’s.
Speaking to the Club’s official website, Youth Team Coach Jamie Hoyland said,
“All the lads applied themselves right after a bit of a complacent start but they thoroughly deserved the win and probably could have had a few more. It might sound greedy but we have to cut out the mistakes and not be complacent, but it was a good performance and some good goals.”
“I have told them that we have got good competition for places now. It’s about winning matches but also about playing well, I wont just pick players because they have to play.
“I am not just looking at the goals I am also looking at the all-round performance and I am getting that from quite a few of the players at the moment.”
